Such announcements are simply the best way to let your family and friends know about the little miracle that you have just welcomed into your home. For announcements that leave a lasting impression with any one who receives them however, photo birth announcements are the way to go.

As you may have gathered, photo birth announcements are pretty much like any other birth announcement, but with the important addition of a photo. As you can imagine, this makes for an announcements that will definitely leave a favorable impression with your loved ones. Pictures are simply a lot more effective at conveying how your child looks than even the most flowery message. No matter how verbose you are, words simply won’t do justice to how cute your baby looks. Besides, you wont have nearly enough space in the typical birth announcement to describe just how precious your little tyke is!

You don’t actually need very much in order to create your photo birth announcements at home, with a standard computer, printer and the necessary software being more than enough to do a good job. Of course you do have to be aware of a few things that can affect the final appearance of the photo.

A key factor to consider is the resolution in which the image is reproduced. If you have seen photo birth announcements wherein the image is blurred or pixilated, you already know that they can be quite unflattering. In most such cases, the creator of the announcement probably used a very low resolution. It is important to take pictures or scan them at a sufficient resolution that allows for maximum clarity. That being said, using a too high resolution isn’t necessarily the best way to go either, as overly high resolution pictures can eat up too much of your computer’s resources and possibly even cause it to grind to a halt. In general, setting your camera or scanner to capture at 250 dpi to 300 dpi should be enough to get you great looking results in a typical consumer printer.

The type of paper that you will use bears some consideration as well. You may be tempted to use all that copy paper that you have lying around, but they are generally too thin to produce good looking prints. You should instead print your photo birth announcements on papers that are specifically intended for clear photo reproduction.
